Intervals: The chromatic scale (minor second)

After facing the fingering and the classic setting, we begin to enter into the heart of the concepts that can be practiced with methodology, only the chromatic harps : study intervals, starting with the chromatic scale.

Premise

The chromatic harp strings cross, the study of fingering, is nothing more than identify all functional solutions for easily playing the crossing of the two tailpieces without physical problems, to have a good sound and a good technique.

in the course of this study all the intervals, we could do a summary, through the tablature, that there can help: to finger new pieces to play with more agility, to memorize better, to understand the harmony and real spaces between various intervals better than a pianist (for diatonic harp or pedal is impossible to identify systematically all intervals on the tailpiece)

Study the three proposals fingerings, 2- 3- 4 fingers hands separately and together.

Play over the entire range of the instrument without breaking the chromatic line.

As always we suggest the scale of c remember to exchange fingerings LH R. H. (left hand -right hand) to R. H. L.H. (dx -sX) if you start the scale on the other tailpiece then: c # -d # -fgab. not always start from c changed the initial note.

It is important to be flexible! flexible scales are part of this approach, it is important to know your instrument beyond the written music! you have to explore it!

Then again using only two, three, four fingers move without jumps, as in the example, and alternating hands to be more alert to changes that you decide to do at the moment.

Play the chromatic scale using various combinations of rhythm and pauses individually and then mixing them, using only two fingers, then only 3, then only 4 hands together then separate them and let them work alternately.

Use the metronome to be more exact on: rhythmic figures, pauses and speed.

Started slowly, for curing the sound and the strength of the fingers to avoid especially in low sounds of make noises.

Rest! Are exercises to be performed gradually (is a real training! especially for people that pass a harp to a tailpiece to a harp tailpieces with two crossed) then started with 5 minutes and then increased.

The chromatic scale is very used in the classic chord progressions, themes, and effects, but it is the true alphabet of jazz and improvisation, (there will be an article which will deepen this topic in improvisation). And then the chromatic scale if we do not do well chromatic harp players, who should play it?
